Softball Recap: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Tennyson Lancers
Piedmont had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Tennyson on Friday. The Highlanders blew past the Lancers 16-1. That's more bragging rights for the Highlanders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Edie Elmquist made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. In other batting news, Kajsa Benson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eunice Kouadio, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Piedmont now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Tennyson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
