Softball Preview: Cape Fear Colts vs. Lee County Yellow Jackets

The Cape Fear Colts will head out on the road to square off against the Lee County Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cape Fear has three straight victories, Lee County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cape Fear put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Purnell Swett with a sharp 15-0 win.

Serbio is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Jones, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Lee County's offense. They fell victim to a tough 10-0 loss at the hands of Western Harnett on Wednesday.

Lee County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Scott, who went 2-for-2 with a double.

Cape Fear is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Lee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
