Baseball Recap: Red Hook Starts Season with Win Against Pine Plains

Red Hook had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Pine Plains Bombers on Friday. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bombers, too.

Luca Friedman and Dylan MacDonald made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Friedman tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, MacDonald didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. At bat, Friedman scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances, while MacDonald scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Heeney, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jackson Huber, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Red Hook and Pine Plains will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Raiders are set to square off against their familiar foe Spackenkill at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Pine Plains will challenge rival Webutuck at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
