Preview: Zion-Benton Zee-Bees vs. Lake Forest Scouts
Zion-Benton is 1-9 against Lake Forest since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Zion-Benton Zee-Bees will be home for the holidays to greet the Lake Forest Scouts at 7:00 p.m. Zion-Benton is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Zion-Benton came up short against Wheeling and fell 52-43.
The losing side was boosted by Baakir Christian, who scored 25 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. She scored a full 58.1% of Zion-Benton's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lanay Houston, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake Forest was beaten by Prospect 57-28 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lake Forest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Prospect is ranked 98th).
Zion-Benton bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Lake Forest, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Zion-Benton was dealt a bruising 60-16 defeat at the hands of Lake Forest in their previous meeting back in January. Can Zion-Benton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
