Softball Recap: West Branch Warriors vs. Northern Potter Panthers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Branch had no problem doing just that on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Northern Potter Panthers.

Makena Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, West Branch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Thompson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

West Branch's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Northern Potter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-6.
