Football Preview: Hanks Knights vs. Andress Eagles

Suggested Video

Hanks hasn't had much luck against Andress recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hanks Knights will take on the Andress Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Hanks knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Andress likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Hanks made easy work of Horizon and carried off a 42-21 victory. The Knights pushed the score to 35-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Scorpions cut but never quite recovered from.

A big part of Hanks' win came down to the chemistry between Jordan Morales and his top target Alex Robles. Morales threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns while Robles picked up 184 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Dean Deucher helped Morales out on the ground, rushing for 155 yards and a touchdown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hanks was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 61 points the game before, Andress was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a 54-8 loss at the hands of Chapin. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-0.

Andress' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mikeil Taylor, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Jamari Milton, who threw for 242 yards and a touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (101 yards to be exact) also went to Avant Clayton.

Hanks pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Andress, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Hanks might still be hurting after the 33-12 defeat they got from Andress in their previous meeting back in November of 2018. Can Hanks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
