Basketball Recap: Jensen Beach Starts Season with Victory at Home

Jensen Beach took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Morningside Academy Eagles (Eddy), sneaking past 41-38. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Jensen Beach was led to victory by Tavareon Newson and Gage Wilson. Newson posted four points in addition to ten boards, seven assists, and five steals, while Wilson shot 56% from the field to rack up 10 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Dre Lott, who went 5-for-11 en route to 10 points.

Despite the loss, Morningside Academy still got an impressive performance from Aiden Valcin, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Jaiven Jackson was another key player, putting up five points and ten boards.

Morningside Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Jensen Beach will challenge Forest Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morningside Academy, they will face off against Port St. Lucie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
