Softball Recap: San Bernardino Takes Down Mountain View in a Playoff Battle

San Bernardino had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Mountain View Vikings on Thursday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Leila Cortes, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Delilah Pacheco, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

San Bernardino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .605 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

San Bernardino is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Coming up, San Bernardino will square off against Notre Dame at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
