Softball Recap: Edmonson County Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Edmonson County's offense. They fell 3-0 to the Grayson County Cougars on Thursday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Julie Norris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Edmonson County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jolee Vincent, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Shelby Sowders also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Edmonson County now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Grayson County, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Edmonson County will challenge Bowling Green at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grayson County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Russellville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
