Basketball Game Preview: Daniel Boone Trailblazers vs. Sevier County Smoky Bears

Daniel Boone hasn't had much luck against Sevier County recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Daniel Boone Trailblazers will face off against the Sevier County Smoky Bears. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Daniel Boone is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Monday. They took a 75-61 bruising from Dobyns-Bennett. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th in Tennessee, while the Indians are ranked 66th in Tennessee).

Meanwhile, everything went Sevier County's way against Jefferson County on Tuesday as Sevier County made off with a 68-43 win. The Smoky Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Sevier County is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points over those games. Daniel Boone's defeat dropped their record down to 6-23.

Daniel Boone came up short against Sevier County in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 70-64. Can Daniel Boone avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
