Softball Game Preview: Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings vs. Lincoln-Way East Griffins

Homewood-Flossmoor hasn't had much luck against Lincoln-Way East recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will square off against the Griffins at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Homewood-Flossmoor turned things around against Providence Catholic on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Celtics.

Homewood-Flossmoor saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Thurman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Thurman has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way East faced Lincoln-Way West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Griffins blew past the Warriors 9-3. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Homewood-Flossmoor's record now sits at 9-13. As for Lincoln-Way East, their record is now 22-4.

Homewood-Flossmoor came up short against Lincoln-Way East in their previous matchup back in April, falling 5-2. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
