Scotland has gone a perfect 10-0 against Southern Lee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Scotland Fighting Scots will be playing at home against the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Scotland will be strutting in after a win while Southern Lee will be coming in after a defeat.
Scotland took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Hoke County.
Avery Stutts made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
Stutts wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Southern Lee didn't have quite enough to beat Richmond on Tuesday and fell 7-5.
Maliyah Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 14 hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Maggie Lucas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Sydney Bisson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Scotland now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Southern Lee, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Southern Lee's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Scotland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 15.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Southern Lee, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Scotland keep running through batters, or will Southern Lee buck the trend?
Scotland took their win against Southern Lee in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. Will Scotland repeat their success, or does Southern Lee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
