Volleyball Recap: South Newton Takes a Loss

South Newton suffered their biggest loss since September 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against the Kankakee Valley Kougars, falling 3-0. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Kougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-16.

Despite the loss, South Newton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Briley Iseminger had 14 digs and one assist. Iseminger has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last six times she's played.

South Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kankakee Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, South Newton will square off against Kouts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kankakee Valley, they will face off against Merrillville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
