            Volleyball Recap: Kodiak Bears vs. Homer Mariners        
        
		
        
        
            Kodiak was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight  loss. They were a single  set away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Homer Mariners. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the  1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in October of 2024.
 Maggie Hubert paced Kodiak's offense, picking up three kills. Hubert got some help from  Ava Dela Cruz and her five assists.  Angeli Doctolero controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Kodiak's loss dropped their record down to 4-24-3. As for Homer, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11-1 record  this season.
 Kodiak didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  matchup,  a  2-1  victory against Bethel on the 11th. As for Homer, they have also already played their next contest,  a  1-0  win against Sitka on the 11th.
