Softball Recap: Strawberry Crest Takes a Loss

Strawberry Crest extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-13 in the process. They lost 9-3 to the Plant Panthers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Brooke Burruezo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Coole, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Plant, their record now sits at 12-9. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Plant's side, Gigi Cozzens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Kate Compton was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Audrey Perkins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

As of now, neither Strawberry Crest nor Plant have any future games scheduled.
