Baseball Game Preview: White Pine Bobcats vs. Round Mountain Knights

White Pine is 8-2 against Round Mountain since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bobcats will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 1:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Round Mountain will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: White Pine extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Bobcats' pitchers stepped up to hand Laughlin a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Hall made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for White Pine: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Maverick Mangum was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Maddox Sedlacek was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

White Pine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .586 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Round Mountain not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Beaver Dam. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

White Pine's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Round Mountain, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

White Pine took their win against Round Mountain in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
