Preview: Statesboro Blue Devils vs. Ware County Gators
Statesboro is on a three-game streak of home wins, while the Gators are on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Statesboro Blue Devils will take on the Ware County Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Statesboro can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Greenbrier 73-44 at home. Given Statesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Statesboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'caiden Cone, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Cone is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kamron (kam) Mikell, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Ware County didn't have too much trouble with the Wolfpack at home on Saturday as they won 70-56.
Statesboro is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Ware County, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
Statesboro barely slipped by the Gators when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 53-52. Will Statesboro repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
