Soccer Game Preview: Amarillo vs. Lubbock

The Amarillo Sandies will face off against the Lubbock Westerners at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Amarillo's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Lubbock has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Amarillo's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over Caprock. The Sandies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Lubbock's offense. They lost 3-0 to Tascosa on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Westerners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 538th, while the Rebels are ranked 228th).

Amarillo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those 12 games. Lubbock's loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Everything went Amarillo's way against Lubbock in their previous matchup back in January, as Amarillo made off with a 3-0 win. Does Amarillo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lubbock turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
