Basketball Preview: St. Charles vs. Huntingtown Hurricanes
St. Charles is 9-1 against the Hurricanes since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. St. Charles will head out on the road to square off against the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. St. Charles will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Charles beat the Rams 57-53.
St. Charles got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shamir Taylor out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Taylor hasn't dropped below 18 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Buchanan, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Huntingtown strolled past the Warriors with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 56-40. The win was just what Huntingtown needed coming off of a 67-39 defeat in their prior game.
St. Charles is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Huntingtown, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
St. Charles strolled past the Hurricanes when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 61-47. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Huntingtown's Emerson Neal, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for St. Charles to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
