Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Zeeland West). They had just enough and edged the Portland Raiders out 66-64. The win was all the more spectacular given the Dux's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while the Raiders are ranked 93rd).

Zeeland West's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-17. As for Portland, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2.

Looking ahead, Zeeland West will be playing in front of their home fans against Spring Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Portland, they will head out on the road to square off against Lansing Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lansing Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
