Moore Catholic wins going away against St. John the Baptist

Recap: Moore Catholic Mavericks vs. St. John the Baptist Cougars

The Moore Catholic Mavericks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against St. John the Baptist on Sunday as Moore Catholic made off with a 63-40 win. Moore Catholic's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Brianna Caliri was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Mackenzie Felci was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.

Moore Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for St. John the Baptist, they bumped their record down to 0-1 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Moore Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Edmund Prep at 6:30 p.m. on December 18th. St. Edmund Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Moore Catholic is ranked eighth). St. John the Baptist will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holy Trinity at 5:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
