Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy Losee Finds Playoff Glory Versus Western

Somerset Academy Losee had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down the Western Warriors 47-33 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Jayla Lewis was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-18 to rack up 28 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was ZaRyah Snell, who posted six points and eight boards.

Somerset Academy Losee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only pulled down three offensive boards.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laila Lwaba, who put up 12 points. That was a full 36.4% of Western's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyris Davis, who had nine points.

Somerset Academy Losee pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 45.4 points. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Coming up, Somerset Academy Losee will square off against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Academy Losee's defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so Foothill's offense will have their work cut out for them. Western does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
