Softball Recap: Madison Memorial Comes Up Short

Madison Memorial fell victim to Verona and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.

Madison Memorial got a good showing from Emma Hammersley, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Hammersley a new career-low.

At the plate, Madison Memorial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tricia Balice, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Madison Memorial now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Verona, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
