Basketball Recap: Miking Ettress Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Columbia, Salem was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the DuQuoin Indians by a score of 59-49. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Salem's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Miking Ettress, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 19 points and four steals. Those 19 points gave Ettress a new career-high. Ayden Rose was another key player, going 7 of 10 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

With the victory, Salem broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-18. As for DuQuoin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-12.

When Salem and DuQuoin next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Salem will face off against Mater Dei and their five-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, DuQuoin will try to stop Pinckneyville's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
