Basketball Game Preview: Jellico Blue Devils vs. Harriman Blue Devils

The Jellico Blue Devils will face off against the Harriman Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Jellico has now lost 16 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 26.

Last Friday, Jellico lost to Sunbright at home by a 60-42 margin. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Tigers are ranked 168th).

Despite their defeat, Jellico saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Savannah Lay, who posted six points in addition to six boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Mccullah, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Jellico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Harriman's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Midway by a score of 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered against the Green Wave since January 13, 2023.

Jellico's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Harriman, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-10.
