Basketball Recap: Ely Takes a Loss

If Ely was riding high fresh off their 108-36 takedown of Lake of the Woods last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ely Timberwolves were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 57-56 to the Chisholm Bluestreaks. The Timberwolves lost against the Bluestreaks in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 79-38 score last time.

Ely's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Chisholm, they pushed their record up to 8-14 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ely will challenge Mountain Iron-Buhl at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chisholm, they will head out on the road to take on Cook County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cook County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Chisholm likes a good challenge.
