Basketball Recap: Brody Baker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mccutcheon over Goshen

If McCutcheon was feeling good fresh off their 72-42 takedown of Lowell on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The McCutcheon Mavericks took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Goshen RedHawks on Saturday.

McCutcheon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Baker, who posted 13 points. Gavin Pritzel was another key player, putting up nine points.

Goshen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Levi Sawatzky out in front who went 6 of 14 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Cline, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

McCutcheon has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Goshen, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

McCutcheon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 84-50 loss against Northridge on the 28th. Goshen has also already played their next game, a 55-49 defeat against La Porte on the 28th.
