Basketball Game Preview: Lago Vista Vikings vs. LBJ Austin Jaguars

The Lago Vista Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the LBJ Austin Jaguars at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lago Vista will head into Friday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Austin Achieve on Friday. Lago Vista took their game with ease, bagging a 76-21 win over Austin Achieve. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Polar Bears are ranked 1572nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask LBJ Austin). They blew past Manor New Tech 97-54 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on five straight.

The win got LBJ Austin back to even at 13-13. As for Lago Vista, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3.

Lago Vista beat LBJ Austin 47-40 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lago Vista since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
