Softball Recap: Assumption Victorious

Assumption and Athens pushed the score to 19-2 the last time they played Athens, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Royals skirted past the Bluejays 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Bluejays: they've now won four in a row.

Ari Cavanaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Assumption's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kiley Carroll, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Assumption's record now sits at 10-6. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Assumption does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Athens, they will head out to take on Columbus Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bluejays will need to watch out since the Dons have now posted at least ten runs in their last nine games.
