Basketball Recap: Midland Valley Comes Up Short

Midland Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-29 loss at the hands of the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the War Eagles are ranked 38th).

Gray Collegiate Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kadence Walker-Lee led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Walker-Lee has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Kiley Freeman was another key player, putting up 19 points and six boards.

Midland Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing North Augusta the next time they take the court. Midland Valley will head out to face North Augusta at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Gray Collegiate Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
