Baseball Game Preview: Hodgdon Hawks vs. Wisdom Pioneers

The Hodgdon Hawks will face off against the Wisdom Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hodgdon's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Tuesday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hodgdon hadn't beaten Madawaska on the road since June 10, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Owls. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Owls since May 3, 2023.

Hodgdon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Henderson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wisdom was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-3 to Madawaska.

Kamden Daigle was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Hodgdon has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Wisdom, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hodgdon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Wisdom struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Hodgdon skirted past Wisdom 7-5 when the teams last played back in May. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
