Preview: Taylor County Bulldogs vs. Rutherford Rams

The Taylor County Bulldogs will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Rutherford Rams at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Taylor County had no problem doing just that on Monday. They managed a 37-32 victory over the Buccaneers. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but Taylor County was the better team in the second half.

LeeAsia Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Taylor County's points. Another player making a difference was Kourtney Jackson, who scored seven points.

Meanwhile, Rutherford had already won 19 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 20 on Friday. They came out on top against Rickards by a score of 48-40. That's two games straight that Rutherford has won by exactly eight points.

Nautica Bouie and Shakirah Edwards were among the main playmakers for Rutherford as the former scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals and the latter scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Bouie hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Ayonnie Houston was another key contributor, scoring five points.

Taylor County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for Rutherford, their victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1.
