Baseball Recap: Salem Lions vs. Scottsburg Warriors

Salem had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-3-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the Scottsburg Warriors by a score of 3-1. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 10-2 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Scottsburg, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season.

For Scottsburg's part, Garrett McClellan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Brandt Kendall was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Cox, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
