Baseball Game Preview: Life Prep Fire vs. Hesston Swathers

The Life Prep Fire will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Hesston Swathers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Life Prep will be strutting in after a win while Hesston will be coming in after a defeat.

Life Prep took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Chisholm, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Fire had just enough and edged out the Longhorns 9-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Fire as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Ivan Reid (Colon, Panama) and Arthur Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas) did most of the damage at the plate: Reid (Colon, Panama) went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas) went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas) has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Chaveles (Mexico City, Mexico), who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Hesston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Concordia, falling 12-6.

Hesston saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Levi Flaming, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Flaming has become a key player for the Swathers: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Gabe Mowry was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Life Prep's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Hesston, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Life Prep beat Hesston 7-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Do the Fire have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Swathers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
