Softball Game Preview: Tomball Memorial Wildcats vs. Klein Cain Hurricanes

The Tomball Memorial Wildcats will square off against the Klein Cain Hurricanes at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tomball Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Tomball Memorial will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Friday, then bounced right back against Magnolia on Friday. Tomball Memorial walked away with a 10-7 victory over Magnolia. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Lauren Coombs was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lacey Matheson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kamdyn Folsom was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Klein Cain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 12-4 to Klein Oak.

Klein Cain's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Tomball Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8-1.
