Softball Recap: Lockland Wins Going Away Against New Miami

Lockland won the last time they faced New Miami and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 19-8 margin over the Vikings. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Lockland got a massive performance out of Jaylah Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Smith continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Liselle Bradford, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Lockland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Lockland and bumps their season record up to 4-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for New Miami, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, New Miami will head out on the road to challenge Cincinnati Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Nighthawks have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
