Basketball Recap: L.W. Higgins Comes Up Short

L.W. Higgins suffered their biggest loss since January 7th on Wednesday. They were dealt a 60-26 defeat at the hands of the Newman Greenies. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Greenies are ranked 37th).

When it comes to explaining why L.W. Higgins lost, don't look at Roman Mcclinton. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points. Those 19 points gave Mcclinton a new career-high.

Randy Livingston Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Newman, going 10 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. Livingston Jr has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Foster, who had eight points along with four blocks and three steals.

L.W. Higgins' loss dropped their record down to 5-21. As for Newman, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 21-6.

L.W. Higgins will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bonnabel at 7:00 p.m. Bonnabel will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something L.W. Higgins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Newman, they will venture away from home to challenge McDonogh 35 at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
