Baseball Game Preview: Hilliard Davidson Wildcats vs. Olentangy Liberty Patriots

Hilliard Davidson is 1-9 against Olentangy Liberty since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Patriots at 5:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Hilliard Davidson faced off against Hilliard Bradley on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since May 6, 2024.

Connor McHenry was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Hilliard Davidson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Himes, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Olentangy Liberty waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Bears, sneaking past 4-2. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly two runs.

Olentangy Liberty's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Hilliard Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Hilliard Davidson came up short against Olentangy Liberty when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 6-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
