Volleyball Recap: La Crosse Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Gabriella Zeeb and Celia Christopherson

La Crosse Central lost against Aquinas back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Riverhawks fell just short of the Blugolds by a score of 3-2. The Riverhawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, La Crosse Central sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-17, 20-25, 15-10.

Celia Christopherson and Gabriella Zeeb certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Christopherson had 23 digs, while Zeeb had 17 digs. Christopherson has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Aquinas was led to victory by Adelaide Bezemek and Aubrey Coyne. Bezemek had 48 assists and 15 digs, while Coyne had 29 digs and two assists. With that strong performance, Coyne is now averaging an impressive 10.6 digs per game. Another player making a difference was Norah Poellinger, who had 14 digs and one assist.

La Crosse Central suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 9-8. As for Aquinas, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.

Coincidentally, La Crosse Central and Aquinas will both be playing Tomah the next time they take the court. The Blugolds will head out to face the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Riverhawks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
