Basketball Recap: Joshua Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Riley Hanks and Olivia Buchanan

Joshua Christian lost against Heritage Christian Athletics back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Joshua Christian Knights fell to the Heritage Christian Athletics Falcons 41-35. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joshua Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Buchanan, who posted seven points along with 15 rebounds and six blocks, and Riley Hanks, who earned 18 points and eight boards. Joshua Christian is 6-1 when Buchanan posts eight or more boards, but 0-3 otherwise. Joanna Ogdie was another key player, putting up two points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Joshua Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Joshua Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Heritage Christian Athletics, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.

Joshua Christian has already played their next game, a 57-16 victory against Johnson County Sports Association on the 24th. As for Heritage Christian Athletics, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Texas Wind at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
