Basketball Recap: Axtell Takes a Loss

Axtell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Alma Cardinals 64-32. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Axtell still got an impressive performance from Brandt Modlin, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Jacob Halvorsen was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

It was another big night for Zavier Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds for Alma. Mitchell's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Neal, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Axtell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Alma, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Axtell will challenge Elm Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alma, they will take on Amherst at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
