Baseball Recap: Macon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hallsville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Macon). They put the hurt on the Hallsville Indians with a sharp 18-3 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Preston Burns looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryder Lewis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Hagan Ritter was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Macon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Macon pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Hallsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Macon will head out to take on Centralia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hallsville, they will face off against Mexico at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
