Softball Game Preview: Midland Eagles vs. Maquoketa Valley Wildcats

Midland hasn't had much luck against Maquoketa Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will square off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Midland came up short against East Buchanan and fell 5-1. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maquoketa Valley not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since June 24, 2024 (when they won 11-0). They blew past Springville 11-3. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Orioles: they've now won six in a row.

Midland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Maquoketa Valley, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Midland couldn't quite get it done against Maquoketa Valley in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
