Softball Recap: Bonneville Takes a Loss

Bonneville couldn't beat Malad on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Bees fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 5-4.

Gracie Longhurst was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Bonneville has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for Malad, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonneville will square off against Idaho Falls at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bees are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Malad, they will face off against West Side at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
