Basketball Recap: Appling Christian Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Appling Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the First Academy Lions by a score of 54-45 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 68-32 back in December of 2024.

Appling Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden Drake led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Xzayvier Anderson, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, First Academy had strong showings from Logan James, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Logan Steele, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Appling Christian Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for First Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Appling Christian Academy will welcome Peoples Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for First Academy, they will head out to square off against St. Teresa's Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
