            Softball Recap: Haddam-Killingworth Cougars vs. Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils        
        
		
        
        
            Haddam-Killingworth barely beat Coginchaug Regional the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils  a   9-0 shutout  on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three games by eight  runs or more  so far this season.
 Emma Giaccone made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Giaccone was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with two  RBI and one  run.
 In other batting news,  Hannah Reilly was  incredible,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with three  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  RBI.  Grace LaConte was another key player,  going 1-for-2 with three  RBI and one  run.

Haddam-Killingworth's victory was  their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 4-1. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Coginchaug Regional, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record  this season.
 Haddam-Killingworth will square off against Cromwell at 3:45  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Coginchaug Regional, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  matchup,  a  1-0  victory against Valley Regional on the 28th.
