Softball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

Elkin was the 15-0 winner over North Stokes when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Elkin Buckin' Elks fell just short of the North Stokes Vikings by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday.

Mackenzie White stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Aiden Byrd, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Elkin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Elkin's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Elkin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-9 victory against Watauga on the 6th. As for North Stokes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 1-1 draw against Oak Level Baptist Academy on the 6th.
