Preview: Oak Ridge Trojans vs. Whitney Wildcats

Oak Ridge is 6-1 against Whitney since August of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Oak Ridge Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Whitney Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Oak Ridge will be strutting in after a win while Whitney will be coming in after a defeat.
Oak Ridge gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 25-14 win over Granite Bay. The win made it back-to-back wins for Oak Ridge.
Erick Orme jr. was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Oak Ridge also got help from Jadon Anderson who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Whitney's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Folsom on the road and fell 63-19. While losing is never fun, Whitney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Folsom is ranked 17th).
Oak Ridge's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. Whitney has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' game: Oak Ridge has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 392.9 total yards per game. It's a different story for Whitney, though, as they've been averaging only 241.1 per game. Will Oak Ridge be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Whitney flip the ?
Everything came up roses for Oak Ridge against Whitney in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 55-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Ridge since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
