Basketball Recap: Scholars Guild Academy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Scholars Guild Academy can now relate to. They were dealt an 80-51 defeat at the hands of the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Lightning recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Lanier Christian Academy was led to victory by Mekhi Barber and Xavier Barber. Mekhi almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Xavier almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 assists. The match was Mekhi's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Sewell-Strabala, who posted ten points and six boards.

Scholars Guild Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Lanier Christian Academy, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-5.

As of now, neither Scholars Guild Academy nor Lanier Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
