Football Game Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Pilot Point Bearcats + How To Watch

The Commerce Tigers will square off against the Pilot Point Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Commerce is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Jefferson 40-14. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 372nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aidan Brown produced another solid performance rushing for 102 yards and one score, while also throwing for 83 yards and four TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 102 rushing yards. Commerce also got a significant boost from Ky'mani Graham, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

Meanwhile, Pilot Point waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 45-13 victory over the Trojans.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Drevion James and Caden David. James rushed for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries while David gained 111 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave James a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Pilot Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 368 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.

Commerce's record is now 8-2. As for Pilot Point, their record now sits at 9-2.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Commerce has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 299.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pilot Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 307.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
